Sender ID rules

Long code (10DLC) / Short code / Toll-free

Alphanumeric sender IDs are NOT supported on US carriers.

Registration: 10DLC registration required for any A2P traffic.

Regulator: FCC, CTIA

Compliance & carrier rules

  • All A2P (business) traffic must be registered with The Campaign Registry (TCR) under 10DLC.
  • Unregistered traffic is heavily throttled or blocked by carriers.
  • TCPA requires prior express written consent for marketing SMS.
  • STIR/SHAKEN authentication is enforced.
  • Include "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" in marketing messages.

Available routes

  • Open Sender ID — Any alphanumeric sender ID is accepted.
  • Route-2 — Carrier-managed route.
Pricing notes. All prices are per SMS segment in USD. Long messages are split into segments (GSM-7: 160 characters per segment, then 153; Unicode: 70, then 67) and billed per segment. Sender-ID rules and regulator references reflect current public guidance — for high-volume or regulated traffic, please confirm with the destination operator. Prices update automatically as carrier rates change.
